@cbp4425ify animals becoming extinct by natural causes is one thing, and yes that balances out eventually, but animals going extinct, especially ones that are so large and consume such huge numbers of creatures, by us hunting them would and eventually will have a cascade effect. perhaps not to the extent the guy your talking to suggests, but to at least a degree.

@cbp4425ify I give a sh*t if whales die. If you listened to your science teacher when you were/ are at school, you would realise that ecosystems depend on a delicate balance of predator prey interaction- mess that up and the whole system goes into meltdown. You cant simply remove layers of the food web without causing massive problems for the remaining system. |
