@SenseiWuzi Parrots do enjoy music and recognize and move to the beat. In fact, they will move to the beat if there is no music involved but just chanting or tapping of a drum.

Just curious, parrots, budgies, cockatoos and birds of that nature. Can they recognize rhythm and enjoy it? Because it is only there are loads of vids of them dancing to music :P

@Maczor1231 Thank you!

That makes sense and if I think back it is how the parrots I cared for did get to know and like me--regular feeding and attention when no one else was around. They appreciated the company. And you are right it took a long time. We knew each other for 8 years off and on and the longer it went the better it got.

@faefairyblossom Frostie hated me in the beginning! He jumped on my chest and bit me! He also chased me around and would try to bite me! I won his heart by giving him peanuts and playing music for him so he could dance when I was visiting with him.
I was very afraid of him to begin with! It takes time to let the bird know you are their friend. The important thing is they look to you for food and an activity or activities they don't normally get and enjoy a lot.
this is just my opinion.

Birds do Think as well as have feelings ( and rhythm)! Thanks for the laughs! I'd love to know how you do with training them to be friendlier. |
